Købn is an Australian lifestyle brand offering thoughtfully designed and GOTS-certified towels. The label was founded in 2017 by textile designer Sophie Matson after more than 15 years of experience in the industry, working for leading Australian retailers.
Købn’s product range include towels, hand towels and bathmats Sustainability, responsibility and transparency are Købn’s core values and each season the label aims to reduce its footprint, eliminating plastic use and partnering with I=Change to donate $1 of every online sale to selected charities.
Købn’s products are designed and Melbourne and ethically made by a family-run mill in Denizli, Turkey - a region which synonymous with high quality and luxurious textile production, ensuring the final products are sustainable whilst offering impeccable fabrication as well as safe workplaces and environmentally friendly facilities.
Each of the label’s products carry Oeko-Tex, SEDEX and GOTS certifications, offering complete transparency and ensuring ethical production, socially responsible working conditions and sustainable practices are met across all supply chains. Additionally, Købn’s consideration and respect for the environment is further enhanced with Made In Green by Oeko-Tex swing tags – allowing complete traceability across the production cycle for each product via a scannable QR code.
Købn’s inspiration is drawn from nature, architecture, interiors, art, cultures and colour theory and the play and interaction of colour and how this may impact one’s emotions, thoughts and feelings, resulting in timeless designs with a thoughtful earthy colour palette, featuring stripes to enhance indoor and outdoor appeal.
The final products come in cotton and limited edition cotton linen ranges. All Købn towels are reversible, with one side terry and one side plain weave, featuring raw edge fringing and textured drop pile stripes with a highly absorbent luxurious weave.
The inspiration for the first collection were the colours of the architecture in Copenhagen influencing the brand name - The name Købn comes from the Danish word for Copenhagen; København.
